DESCRIPTION

The BAD CAPTAIN, designed by the renowned German Frers and built in the Queen Long Shipyard, features a generous beam carried well aft, providing excellent stability and more interior volume than comparable yachts. Safety features include a Center Cockpit, Waterproof Bulkheads forward and aft, and a hull constructed with Twaron, a heat-resistant, high-performance para-aramid fiber offering ballistic and cut protection. Below decks, the BAD CAPTAIN is a testament to luxury, boasting a stunning teak interior with a high-gloss finish. It offers two staterooms with ensuite heads, including an aft cabin with a centerline queen-sized berth. The yacht is cutter-rigged with a generous mainsail, 135% genoa, and staysail. Recent upgrades include a new sail pack, bimini, dodger, connecting panels and enclosures, a rigid bimini frame made from 1-1/2" stainless steel tubing, Predictwind’s Data Hub, an Iridium Go Exec with Remote Antenna, and a Starlink high-performance dish, mounted aft. The H46 hull, designed by Frers, features a fine modern entry and a wide beam that carries well aft, allowing the yacht to surf above hull speed and providing a spacious aft master cabin. The wide sugar-scoop stern offers excellent deck storage for dive gear and easy water access for swimming and boarding the dinghy. The BAD CAPTAIN has a deep lead fin keel with a 6’ 3” draft and a well-balanced deep spade rudder supported by a partial skeg, creating a fun, sporty feel under sail.  The BAD CAPTAIN is one of the fastest 46s ever produced.

INTERIOR

The interior of the BAD CAPTAIN is a showcase of luxury, craftsmanship, and intelligent design, creating a welcoming and comfortable living space for extended voyages. The aft owner’s stateroom, located at the stern, features a centerline queen berth, providing ample space and ease of access from both sides. Rich teak cabinetry surrounds the berth, offering abundant storage through hanging lockers, drawers, and shelves. The stateroom also includes an ensuite head with a separate shower and elegantly finished stainless steel fixtures, ensuring comfort and convenience in a private setting.

The forward guest stateroom, situated to port, is equally well-appointed and can comfortably accommodate two adults. This berth also boasts ample storage solutions, including hanging lockers, overhead cabinets, and under-berth drawers, maximizing the use of space while maintaining an uncluttered feel. The forward berth has direct access to the second head. This head is equipped with high-quality fittings and finishes, providing a touch of luxury for guests. Both staterooms are well-ventilated with multiple opening hatches and portholes, ensuring a flow of fresh air and natural light, enhancing the overall ambiance and comfort.  All bunks come equipped with lee clothes for added security when underway.

Opposite to starboard is a long settee that can double as an additional berth if needed. The ergonomic layout ensures that all essential controls and instruments are within easy reach of the helmsman, promoting efficient and safe handling of the yacht. The large, teak-topped seating area is comfortable and inviting, perfect for relaxing or entertaining guests. Safety features include solid stainless steel and teak handrails, ample non-slip surfaces, and strategically placed lifelines and grab rails, ensuring secure movement around the cockpit and deck.

Comfort is paramount in the cockpit of the BAD CAPTAIN, with deep, contoured seating that offers both support and relaxation during long passages. The cockpit has a large, fold-out teak table, providing an excellent space for alfresco dining or social gatherings. The single helm station enhances visibility and maneuverability, making managing sail adjustments and navigation easier. Additionally, the aft and forward decks boast ample storage, including large lockers for stowing lines, fenders, and other essential gear. The BAD CAPTAIN's deck layout is designed for safety and ease of handling with secure footing and easy movement from bow to stern. Teak decking provides an excellent non-slip surface, and strategically placed handrails provide additional safety, especially in rough seas. The yacht is equipped with a traditional mainsail and a roller-furling genoa and staysail, allowing for straightforward sail management from the cockpit. All lines are led aft, minimizing the need to venture forward under sail and enhancing overall safety. The BAD CAPTAIN’s sail plan includes a Quantum Sails Main Sail (2022) Channon 135% Genoa, Channon Stay Sail, Code Zero, and Storm Tri-Sail (All in good condition and well-tested.)  Robust deck fittings, including well-positioned cleats and fairleads, ensure secure mooring and anchoring. The BAD CAPTAIN also features a sturdy bowsprit and an electric windlass, making anchoring easy and efficient.
